ISSUE
The purpose of the project 
was the final design of the:
was the final design of the:- internal sewer pipeline network of the communities of Monolofos, Petroto, N.Philadelfia, Mesaio, Neochorouda and Pentalofo of Municipality of Kallithea
- force main and gravity sewer pipelines and pumping stations for transporting the collected wastewater of the aforementioned communities to a final chamber near the community of Diavata, and through an existing force main pipeline to the Waste Water Treatment Plant of Thessaloniki, which is located in the east embankment of river Gallikos
SOLUTION
The aforementioned communities were served by septic tanks. The produced wastewater was discharged untreated in the broader region resulting in the degradation of the natural environment and the quality of life for local residents.

The design of the project was pursuant to the Greek Presidential Decree 696/74. The design of the pipelines and the pumping stations was based on a 40-year horizon, while the selection of the electrical and mechanical equipment was based on a 20-year horizon. Specifically, the project included:
BENEFIT
The design of the project solved the problem of wastewater management for the communities of Monolofos, Petroto, N.Philadelfia, Mesaio, Neochorouda and Pentalofo of Municipality of Kallithea
- internal gravity sewer networks of communities of Monolofos (with total length of 11.422m and pipeline diameters of 200mm), Petroto (with total length of 4.900m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 315mm), N.Philadelfia (with total length of 10.485m and pipeline diameters of 200mm), Mesaio (with total length of 5.580m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 315mm), Neochoroudas (with total length of 19.780m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 250mm) and Pentalofo (with total length of 18.180m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 250mm)
- external gravity pipeline network (with total length of 23.900m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 500mm), and external force main pipeline network (with total length of 6.600m and pipeline diameters from 200mm to 280mm). Four (4) underground pumping stations were designed for pumping the wastewater
