ISSUE

The purpose of the study was the Environmental Licensing for the drilling and exploitation of a potable water supply well to satisfy the water demand in Municipal District of Capetan Mitrousi, Prefecture of Serres.

SOLUTION     ΥΔΡΕΥΣΗ                                                                 Location of the water well                               
                                                                                   The proposed well was opened at the location “Charka”, 1000m northeast of the community. It reaches 260m in depth. The pipes are galvanized, have a diameter of 8 and thickness of 5mm. The well was equipped with a submersible pump at a depth of 120m and discharge flow of 80m3/h.

The well is connected to a water tower through a pipe of diameter Φ160mm, length of 2000m, made of PVC, 10atm. Finally, the well was connected with the national electricity supply network.

In the study, the exact location of the drilling was identified and the existing condition of the natural and human environment was examined. Additionally, the feasibility of the work was demonstrated and a technical description of the work was performed.

Finally, the environmental impact from the construction and operation of the work was described and the mitigating actions during the construction and operation phases were provided.

BENEFIT

The study was submitted to the environmental public authority for the Environmental Licensing of the work. It contributed to the resolution of the water supply problem in Municipal District of Kapetan Mitrousi, Prefecture of Serres.
